Scam Detective vs Whois lookup
A WHOIS lookup shows a domain’s registration record — the registrar, the creation date, and (when it isn’t redacted for privacy) the registrant. It’s the right tool when you specifically want to know how old a domain is or who registered it.
On its own, though, WHOIS is just raw data. Domain age is one of the five signals that matter for a scam — but a young domain isn’t automatically a scam, and an old one isn’t automatically safe. WHOIS doesn’t weigh impersonation, fake-store patterns, phishing or payment red flags at all.
